Colorado State University Head Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Coach Matt Morris has announced Chris Flynn as the Associate Head Coach for the six programs on Sept. 16, 2020. Flynn is in his third season working with CSU Pueblo track and field and cross country programs.

"Chris comes to the ThunderWolves from the University of Maine, where he's had a ton of success," Morris said. "Chris is an exceptional coach, and has a history of developing outstanding sprints and jumps groups at every institution he has been a part of. Chris also has a strong recruiting background, and we are excited to grow our program and expand on the success we've had in those areas. Chris is highly respected as a coach who can develop and grow a culture-first program where the student athletes are supported and served. We are excited to add Chris to our program, he is going to add a tremendous amount of value in a number of areas!"

Flynn has 12 years of collegiate coaching experience with his last stop at Maine where he was an assistant men's and women's track and field coach since March of 2015.

"I am excited to join the ThunderWolves family, as well as, the Pueblo community," Flynn said. "CSU Pueblo Cross Country and Track and Field has already proven itself as one of the premier programs in Division II and continues to improve year after year. I look forward to contributing to this ongoing success both at the regional and national level."

In addition to his assistant duties at Maine, Flynn was the recruiting coordinator for the track and field and cross country squads. His focus was with the sprints, jumps and multi event groups. He assisted in meet management and in coordinating travel. Flynn also served as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach and worked with track and field, swimming and diving and assisted with football.

Prior to Maine, Flynn was the assistant cross county and track and field coach at Bowdoin College. While at Bowdoin, he was responsible for recruiting student-athletes and coordinating the training of sprinters and jumpers for both the men's and women's programs. He was also responsible for the strength and conditioning of the sprinters and jumpers. Flynn assisted in meet management for all home track and cross country meets.

Prior to Bowdoin, Flynn served as an assistant coach at Springfield College from September 2011 through May 2013. He was responsible for recruiting and assisted in all areas of the program. He coordinated the training of the women's sprinters, hurdlers and relay teams, in addition to the jumping events for both the men's and women's teams. He also assisted in the management of the 2012-13 Eastern College Athletics Conference Championships.

Prior to Springfield, Flynn was an assistant women's track and field coach at Worcester State University from December 2007 to May 2011 where he helped build the program from 10 student-athletes to nearly 40. He coached the jumpers and also coordinated fundraising for the program.

Flynn was a four-year student-athlete at Westfield State College in Westfield, Mass., where he was a member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams. He received All-ECAC accolades in the long jump and triple jump while at Westfield State. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 2007.

Flynn owns a master's degree from Springfield College. He completed his master's degree in Physical Education with a concentration in advanced level coaching in May of 2015.

He is USATF Level 1 certified and has his USATF Level 2 certification in the area of jumps. He also has his USTFCCCA sprint, hurdle and relay specialist certification.
